STATEMENT FROM CLIMATE JOBS NY IN RESPONSE TO GOVERNOR HOCHUL’S FY27 EXECUTIVE BUDGET
New York, NY - Climate Jobs NY released the following statement in response to Governor Hochul’s FY27 Executive Budget address:
“Climate Jobs NY applauds Governor Hochul for prioritizing working families and affordability in her Executive Budget. At a time when the federal government is threatening good-paying jobs and the buildout of clean energy, Governor Hochul’s commitment to increasing solar deployment on school campuses will support family-sustaining jobs while creating cleaner, healthier schools. We also welcome the Governor’s continued focus on climate resilience, including increased investments in Floodsafe NY to help protect communities from the growing risks of flooding.
As the budget process moves forward, we urge the Legislature to build on this momentum by prioritizing additional funding for the Sustainable Future Fund and committing $200 million for thermal energy networks on public college campuses in their one-house budget proposals. Last year’s $1 billion investment in the Sustainable Future Fund was critical to advancing infrastructure projects statewide that improve air quality, lower energy costs, and create high-quality union jobs.
New York’s union workforce is trained, ready, and eager to build the clean energy economy. We call on state leaders to continue making bold investments that protect workers, strengthen communities, and deliver a more affordable and sustainable future for all New Yorkers.”
