Statement from Climate Jobs NY in Response to FY2027 Enacted Budget

May 28, 2025 - Today, Climate Jobs NY Executive Director Esther Rosario made the following statement in response to the FY2027 Enacted Budget:

“New York cannot afford to slow down the transition to a clean energy economy, which is why we are encouraged to see $1 billion for the Sustainable Future Fund with strong labor standards in this year’s state budget. Our top priorities should be to keep shovels in the ground and deliver the infrastructure and supply chain investments communities are counting on.

This transition is the largest infrastructure project of our generation, and it will require decades of sustained investments, like through a cap and invest program, that put workers at the center of the climate movement. Building a cleaner, more reliable energy system means creating and sustaining good union jobs, modernizing our grid, upgrading buildings, and ensuring working families share in the benefits of this transition. Now is our time to move forward.”
